A triennial international competition for stage direction and design, The Ring Award is organised by Graz Oper and Wagner Forum Graz. One hundred and ninety participants from twenty-seven countries submitted their concepts for Le Nozze di Figaro for The Ring Award in July 2004. Nine teams progressed to the semi-finals in Austria in January 2005. As finalists, Orpha Phelan and Leslie Travers were then invited to realise their concept of Act II in July 2005. They were awarded The Audience Prize.
